On the design of sinks and faucets

Sinks have been around, in one form or another, for centuries. When you look at a sink, you probably don’t recognize it as an object that can teach us a valuable lesson about design. You’d be surprised. In a few minutes, you’re going to start looking at sinks in a whole new light.

Start with this photo:

Aside from the obvious fact that there’s a cat in this sink, notice the location of the faucet: it is nearly flush with the back edge of the sink. Odds are your bathroom sink’s faucet can be found in a similar location.
